180° view from Midships

Midships, Old Colonial House, Hope Cove

One of the most spectacular locations on the south coast, Midships in Old Colonial House, built in the 1920’s, is set just above the South West Coast Path overlooking the jewel of Hope Cove bay and harbour.

"Midships doesn't feel like a holiday home. It's as if you're a guest of a favourite relative and they say "just make yourself at home""

Guest, June 2015

With uninterrupted 180° views from the open-plan kitchen/dining room/living room, the principal bedroom and the private 40 foot terrace, Midships enjoys one of the best views of any holiday cottage. Facing west, the sunsets dipping over the far horizon can be stunning.

"Midships has amazing views out to sea, which can be enjoyed from the spacious terrace area, whilst sipping a glass of wine and cooking on the BBQ. You could easily be in the mediterrean on a warm summers day."

A couple of minutes traffic-free walk from the village pub, restaurants, shops and beaches of Hope Cove, Midships, sleeping 4 – 6 in 2 spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, has an Aga, wood burning stove, WiFi and a Weber barbecue to name just a few of the facilities. Midships is a comfortable, cosy cottage, well-equipped for the perfect family holiday whether you are into bucket-and-spade beaches, boating, surfing or walking. For larger parties of 6-8, Bridge, our self-contained suite on the first floor is also available for an additional 50% of the cost of Midships. Bridge consists of a double bedroom, shower room and WC and a living room with spectacular views from the large eyebrow dormer window. Bridge is not available to let on its own.

A most pleasant stay. Midships is very special, with quite spectacular views, is well appointed and has virtually everything you need. It is also very quiet, a perfect haven of calm.

Hope Cove, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a delightfully laid back, very picturesque fishing village boasting the Hope & Anchor Pub and The Cove, the award-winning bistro / craft beer bar and music venue, the village shop and Post Office and an art gallery - and not one, but two safe, clean beaches of different character.

"Watch the sun rise and the warmth creep into the day. Watch the tide coming in, or going out. Spot seals bobbing around in the waves. Enjoy a glass of something cold, as the sun sets over the ever changing sea.. Highly recommended"

Edward L - April 2016

Should you need any more excitement than that, Hope Cove is conveniently located just 10 minutes’ drive from the glitz and glamour of Salcombe, and a convenient 15 minutes’ drive from the supermarkets and facilities of the market town of Kingsbridge.

Midships is the ideal location for a family seaside holiday but, for the more active, apart from the world-class coastal walks on your doorstep (the famous South West Coastal Path is literally at the front gate), there is kayaking, surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding just along the coast at Bigbury and Bantham, together with the famous links golf course at Thurlestone.

Midships is THE most perfect holiday home.

"Comfortable beds with snowy white linen, fabulous kitchen with that wonderful Aga, and a massive terrace with ever changing views."
